Budget smartphone Redmi 8 officially presented
In India, the official presentation of the Redmi 8 smartphone took place, which replaces the bestseller of the budget segment of Redmi 7. The novelty has an IPS-type LCD display with a 6.22-inch touch screen with HD + resolution (1520 × 720 pixels) and a small semicircular notch for the front camera lens. The housing design provides splash protection in accordance with the requirements of the P2i standard. The front panel is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 tempered glass plate.
The Redmi 8 model is built on a single-chip platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 439, which combines eight computing cores of the ARM Cortex A53 architecture, clocked at up to 1.95 GHz, as well as the Adreno 505 graphics accelerator and Hexagon 53 DSP. The cellular communication module provides the smartphone in networks second, third and fourth generations. There are two slots for SIM cards of nano-SIM size.
The device will be available in two versions, differing in the amount of RAM and internal memory – 3 and 32 or 4 and 64 GB, respectively. The configuration of both versions includes a hybrid GPS / GLONASS receiver, an accelerometer, an electronic compass, a proximity sensor, as well as wireless Wi-Fi adapters (IEEE 802.11b / g / n) and Bluetooth 4.2. The USB port is equipped with a Type C outlet. There is a separate slot for a removable microSD memory card.
Of the features of the new items, it is worth noting the presence of an infrared port for controlling household appliances and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. On the back of the case is a fingerprint reader.
The resolution of the front camera is 8 megapixels. Two modules are combined in the main one: a presenter based on a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor with phase autofocus and an auxiliary two-megapixel one. For shooting in low light conditions, an LED flash is provided.
The smartphone’s power source is a built-in lithium-polymer rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. Implemented support for fast charging (up to 18 watts), but the adapter comes with only 10 watts of power.
The Redmi 8 model is running Android 9 (Pie), which is complemented by a proprietary graphical shell MIUI 10.
The dimensions of the apparatus are 156.5 × 75.4 × 9.4 mm; weight – 188 g. The color can be selected from three options: black (Onyx Black), red (Ruby Red) and blue (Sapphire Blue).
Retail prices for the base and older versions of Redmi 8 are about $ 110 and $ 125, respectively. Sales of new items in India will start on October 12.
