Canon IVY REC wearable camera launched

Canon has announced the start of mass production of the IVY REC wearable camera. This was made possible thanks to the successful completion of the fundraising campaign for the release of this device, which was organized at the famous crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

The novelty is intended for photo and video shooting outdoors in various weather conditions at air temperatures from –10 to + 40 ° C. Due to its small size (110.5 × 45.2 × 18.5 mm) and the presence of a built-in carabiner, this camera can be mounted on a strap, backpack strap, belt and on clothes. The design provides protection against dust and moisture in accordance with the requirements of the IP68 standard. The device is capable of withstanding the immersion in water to a depth of 2 m for half an hour, as well as a drop from a height of 2 m, without compromising on performance.

The IVY REC model has a 13-megapixel sensor and a fixed focal length lens (equivalent to 25.4 mm; 1: 2.2). There is also a built-in microphone and electronic image stabilization.

The camera allows you to take photos with a resolution of 3104 × 3104 to 4160 × 3120 pixels, as well as record videos lasting up to 10 minutes with a resolution of HD (720p) or Full HD (1080p) and a frequency of 30 and 60 frames per second, respectively. Pictures are saved as JPEG files, videos in MP4.

IVY REC has a few controls: the shutter button (to enable video recording) and the selector dial to select a mode. According to the creators of this model, the frame of the integrated carabiner can be used as a viewfinder.

The captured material is saved on a microSD memory card, for the installation of which a corresponding slot is provided. The camera is equipped with a USB port for wired connection to a PC and recharging the battery.

Built-in Wi-Fi adapters (IEEE 802.11b / g / n) and Bluetooth 4.2 allow you to establish a wireless connection with mobile devices to transfer received images and videos, as well as remote control settings and shooting through the proprietary application Canon Mini Cam.

The camera’s power source is a built-in 660 mAh battery.

The novelty will be available in three color options: green (Avocado), blue (Riptide) and pink (Dragon Fruit). Canon IVY REC camera retail sales will start in November, and its price will be about $ 130.
