Speaker 1: Samsung has a bunch of new laptops just in time for mobile world Congress, 2022. So I’m gonna tell you all about the Samsung galaxy book to live.

Speaker 1: So Samsung calls their phones, galaxy phones that call the tablets galaxy tablets, but did you know they also call their laptops galaxy laptops? We actually just reviewed a Samsung galaxy book pretty recently and liked it. Now Samsung has the galaxy [00:00:30] book two series, and this is a lineup of so far four laptops that covers mainstream use premium use and even business use. And a few of them have some interesting new features. So there’s four models of the galaxy book two so far. So follow along with me, this is where it gets a little confusing. There’s the galaxy book two pro the galaxy book, 2, 360, the galaxy book two pro 360 and also the galaxy book two business, which is, as you might be able to guess a business laptop, [00:01:00] the 2, 360 models are your traditional 360 hinge, almost yoga style, uh, fold back hybrid two in one, whatever you wanna call ’em laptops, where they look like a regular clamp shell laptop, but they’ve got these hinges that fold back a full 360 degrees.

Speaker 1: So you can turn them into kind of a big, chunky tablet that you hold in your hand, you can set ’em up in kiosk mode, which is kind of what I like. You can set it up in tabletop mode, which is the other way people sometimes use these 360 hinge laptops. And I like that these work with the Samsung [00:01:30] stylist pen, uh, very similar to the ones that you get with the tablet and related to the ones that work with the phone, uh, because these are 360 devices with touchscreens. So you can drawing a sketching on ’em. There’s no place to actually slide the pen in on these. You’re gonna have to store it separately. Uh, sometimes in these hybrid laptops, they have a little slot for it, but it’s nice that you can use the pen with these. Then there’s a galaxy book to pro that’s just a regular clam shell version.

Speaker 1: It does not fold back. And you can tell the difference because they hinges designed a little bit differently on this [00:02:00] one. Also not a touch screen, doesn’t have the pen board, but it’s a very nice premium laptop. And all of these have ammo led displays and they’re full HD displays. So not 4k, not, uh, 25, 60 by 1440, just regular 1920 by 10 80, although that’s frankly fine for 99.9% of the people out there. And it’s usually pretty good for battery life too. Now you may be asking yourself these look a lot, like the gala look, ones that we’ve seen. What’s the difference here. There’s not a huge difference. The big upgrades are number one, moving to 12th [00:02:30] generation Intel processes, and that’s just kind of table stakes. Now, if you have a new laptop coming out this year, that’s the processor family you want to be in.

Speaker 1: And depending on whether you get the pro or the non-pro models, you get different families within that 12th generation processor series and the pro models, which is the galaxy book two pro and the galaxy book two pro 360. These have, and I think this is the most important thing. These have moved up to full HD. We cams. So the camera is a 1920 by 10 80 camera. And you may say to yourself, well, that’s not that big a deal in [00:03:00] laptops. It actually is because we spent the last two plus years sitting around doing web meetings and video meetings and zoom meetings all day. And frankly, unless you have a very, very new laptop. And even in that case, you probably have a lower resolution camera in there. That’s not very good. And frankly annoys everyone you’re on a video meeting with so having a regular full HD camera is actually a big plus.

Speaker 1: And here you get that in the pro model of the regular and the 360 and also in the business model, the regular non-pro, uh, [00:03:30] just has a lower resolution. I think it’s a seven 20 camera, which is kind of what people have been using up until now in a lot of laptops. Another interesting thing is that these are all six 16 by nine laptops, where a lot of newer models from different manufacturers are going with 16 by 10 screens. That’s the aspect ratio of the screen. It gives you a little more space to read through just a little bit more of a document on your screen, but these are sticking with 16 by nine, which is, you know, standard HD TV aspect ratio. And of course, a lot of videos, especially if you’re watching movies or anything like that, that’s the perfect fit for the team by [00:04:00] nine aspect ratio.

Speaker 1: Now, once you get into the nitty gritty of the different models, that’s where some more differences start popping up. And the galaxy book, two pro and the pro 360, you can get them in 13 inch and 15 inch models. So both models in both sizes, if you just get the regular 360, the non-pro version that is a 13 inch screen only. And then if you get the business version, that’s actually a 14 inch screen. It’s a lots of variety there. And because Samsung likes to keep everything in the family, there’s a lot of interoperability between their [00:04:30] different products. For example, uh, the galaxy book laptops plain, nicely with the galaxy phones. And you can take your galaxy tab tablet. I think if you have the S eight or the S seven, and you can use that as secondary display, a wireless secondary display for your galaxy book laptop.

Speaker 1: So the prices for these are all over the place. It’s a wide range, the regular galaxy book, two that’s $900. The galaxy book, two pro is 10 50, the galaxy book, two pro 360 that’s, 1250, and up, [00:05:00] and then the business for version, we don’t know the pricing or availability on that. That’s gonna be later this year, but they’re just talking about it now to kind of set the stage for it. And that’s what’s going on with Samsung’s latest laptop lineup just in time for mobile world Congress. Pre-order for these models. Start on March 18th, except for the business one. They’ll get back to us on that one later.
