Speaker 1: Alien wear has a whole bunch of new and refreshed laptops at CES 2022. But my favorite by far is this guy. It’s a brand new size new model. It’s the alien wear X 14.
Speaker 1: I been a huge fan of smaller gaming laptops alien where used to have a 13 inch model with an Ole screen that I loved. Uh, they don’t have that anymore, but I’m very happy to see this as a possible replacement [00:00:30] besides being a relatively small gaming laptop, alien wear has also designed this to be very thin. That’s really their goal here. Not so much light, not the most powerful, but the thinnest. And you can see really super thin here and part of how they did that is with a new hinge design. They called it a dual torque hinge and it’s right in the back. And it lets you just shave just a little bit of thickness off it and still give you, you know, a good range of motion here. Now of course, the most important question you’re asking is what kind of GPU does this have it, can you up to an [00:01:00] Invidia RTX 36 D which for a super thin small gaming laptop, like this is pretty good.
Speaker 1: If you have a larger screen, a 15 inch screen, a 17 screen, obviously you want a higher end GPU, but if something small and portable, I’m pretty happy with that. So far there’s only one panel option here. Yeah. Obviously 14 inch screen. It’s a full HD display at 144 Hertz. Something else that’s really cool is this uses bit of a smaller power brick than most other gaming laptops. I remember one alien system that needed actually two gigantic full size power [00:01:30] bricks. And they had those big barrel connectors that go in the back. So this guy still using a power brick, but it’s a smaller one. It looks more like a regular, you know, SPS or some other Dell, uh, power brick. And it connects not through a barrel, but through a regular, a USBC connection, which most, you know, thin laptops have now everything from, you know, Dell and HP laptops, the MacBook that are all powered through us C off the top of my head.
Speaker 1: This is the first gaming laptop I’ve seen with a USBC power connection. I’m not gonna swear to that though. Dell is not saying what the battery life would be on something [00:02:00] like this, obviously with a gaming laptop, you usually have it plugged, but if it’s small like this and more portable, I guess you’re more likely to take it with you and use it without, uh, the power supply plugged in. So I don’t know exactly what the, what the battery of rating is, but it is an 80.51 hour battery, which is a pretty big battery. And we actually got to see, uh, the actual battery itself and you can see it takes up a good portion of the interior of the system. Alien wear has some other gaming laptop updates. The X 15 R two is getting an upgrade. The X 17 R [00:02:30] two. That’s an upgrade.
Speaker 1: Uh, there’s some AMD stuff as well, but this is, you know, a new screen size new model. First time we’re seeing this, all of the new and refreshed alien wear laptops, they’re getting Adobe vision support. They’re getting do atmo support us, the models that are just getting, you know, interior bumps and also this brand new screen size brand new system here, the Alienware X 14. And of course, Alienware also has stuff. If you’re going for bigger and more powerful, most notably the M 17, that’s getting an all AMD version with AMD rise.
