Amazon recently released a new Kindle Paperwhite e-reader with a bigger screen that I liked a lot and earned a CNET Editors’ Choice award. It’s now on sale for $105 or $35 off its list price. Additionally, Amazon’s high-end Kindle Oasis e-reader is down to $175 ($75 off), matching its low price. Those are pretty good Kindle deals, but I still think the new Paperwhite Kids at $115 or $45 off is currently the best Kindle deal.
Why? Because it comes with a cover and two years of free damage insurance along with one year of Amazon Kids Plus, the subscription service formally known as FreeTime Unlimited. Even if you’re an adult without kids and don’t care about Kids Plus, getting a cover for an extra $10 plus the no-questions-asked damage insurance is the better value.

The entry-level Kindle Kids is also on sale it’s only $60 ($50 off) while the non-Kids version is on sale for $50). Those models don’t have quite the resolution of the step-up Paperwhite so text doesn’t appear quite as sharp on the screen as it does with the Paperwhite or high-end Oasis. But it does have an integrated light and is a perfectly good e-reader.
A few different case options are available for both the Kindle Kids Edition and Paperwhite Kids, all of them pretty nice and a few that may appeal to adults. There’s even a simple black option for the Paperwhite Kids that would seemingly appeal to anyone.
